Gabrielle is a therapist at Manhattan Wellness

Jennifer: Please introduce yourself in a few sentences for our readers
Gabrielle: I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor living in Manhattan. I work at Manhattan Wellness where I provide individual therapy for adults dealing with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, and relationship issues.

J: How did you get into this field?
G: Growing up, I loved helping family and friends and have always been a listener.

J: How do you balance a busy career as well as healthy personal life?
G: My calendar never leaves my side and I make sure to create time for the people and things I love. I try to give equal attention to all areas of my life.

J: At the beginning of the day, how do you prepare for a good day and at night, how do you wind down before bed?
G: I like to start my day with music, coffee, and a satisfying breakfast. I keep my mind in proactive mode, staying super focused on only one task at a time. At night I make sure my room is a happy space – whether that means cleaning, decorating, watching a good show, reading a good book, or calling somebody close to me.

J: What does your daily wellness routine look like?
G: My routine centers around healthy food choices and adequate sleep. I add a workout class 1-2 times per week. I do at least one thing per day that makes me happy, no matter how small. I love headspace.

J: In such a busy and fast-paced city, how do you find time for yourself during the day?
G: I am a planner. Each week I schedule something to look forward to.

J: Any tips to avoid burnout?
G: Take breaks! Carve out time for whatever fills you up. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when needed. Find ways to laugh.

J: What are three things you could not live without?
G: Dogs, pasta, travel

J: What book/podcast are you currently reading/listening to?
G: Option B by Sheryl Sandberg

J: What is the best advice you've been given?
G: Stay present, worrying won't change the outcome, you control a large portion of what happens to you in life, and surround yourself with people who make you feel good.
